I did not discover Indonesia by looking for places. I discovered it by listening. For more than a decade, travel has taken me through Bali — not only across its landscapes, but into its villages, traditions, quiet corners, and the lives of the people who call this island home.
Then my journey continued east. Across Eastern Indonesia, I found places where life still moves at its own rhythm. Places where a smile needs no reason, where traditions are not performed but lived, and where nature is not something to be admired from a distance, but something deeply woven into everyday life. Some journeys changed the way I see Indonesia. They taught me that the most beautiful part of travelling is often not what you photograph, but what stays with you after you leave.
A conversation with a local family. A road with no name. A meal shared without a plan. A story told by someone you may never meet again. A quiet moment when you suddenly realise that you are no longer simply visiting a place.
